What is a Saison?

(Pronounced Say-zohn)

A Saison (French for season) is a pale, low alcohol Belgian beer traditionally brewed in the French speaking areas of Belgium. It’s a farm house beer brewed in the slow winter months and stored for the summer farm workers to enjoy. This beer is lightly hopped to allow the natural esters of the yeast shine through. There are no spices added to this beer, but notes of orange zest and coriander naturally occur from fermentation. Saisons are best enjoyed from a tulip glass to capture these delicate aromas.
